Opening the Markings tab

  1. Open Road Constructor in the editor.
  2. Use LMB to click the Markings tab icon.
  3. Choose Lane, Point, or Curve depending on the type of marking you want to work with.
  4. Use LMB to press Refresh Selected after selecting an existing road or marking element.
  5. Use the viewport to inspect the marking result from a clear angle. The top workflow buttons define the marking type you are currently working with. The second row, Move, Rotate, and Scale, controls the transform gizmo mode for the current supported marking selection. If a transform option is greyed out, the current selection or marking mode does not support that transform at that moment.

Mouse and viewport controls

Lane mode

Lane mode is the most direct workflow for standard road markings. It is designed for markings that follow lane structure. In this mode, the Markings tab can present a Props selector and Lane Mark Style Helpers for common road marking patterns.

  1. Use LMB to choose Lane mode.
  2. Select the target road or supported marking selection in the viewport or outliner.
  3. Press Refresh Selected to load the current selection into the Markings tab.
  4. Use the Props selector if a marking prop or marking asset needs to be chosen.
  5. Choose a Lane Mark Style Helper such as Dash, Solid, Dash Dash, Dash Solid, Solid Dash, Solid Solid, Short Dash, Long Dash, or Edge Solid.
  6. Inspect the road in the viewport to confirm the marking pattern is placed where expected.

Lane Mark Style Helpers

The Lane Mark Style Helpers provide quick access to common marking patterns. The exact visual result depends on the selected road, active marking selection, RoadStyle, and marking setup, but the helper names describe the intended lane-mark style clearly.

Point mode

Point mode is used when a marking workflow is based around a point or picked surface location. In the screenshots, Point mode exposes the Free Draw Surface Pick action, which is used to pick a surface for free-draw style marking placement when the active marking workflow supports it.

  1. Use LMB to choose Point mode.
  2. Press Refresh Selected if you are working from an existing selected marking or road context.
  3. Use Move, Rotate, or Scale when those controls are available for the current supported marking selection.
  4. Press Free Draw Surface Pick when you need to choose a target surface for supported free-draw marking work.
  5. Use LMB in the viewport to pick the intended supported surface when prompted by the workflow.
  6. Inspect the result and adjust the selection if needed.

Curve mode

Curve mode is used for marking workflows that follow a curved path or free-draw style curve. It is useful when a marking needs to follow a bend, sweep, curve guide, or custom shaped path instead of relying only on a straight or lane-based helper.

  1. Use LMB to choose Curve mode.
  2. Press Refresh Selected if you are editing or reviewing an existing supported marking selection.
  3. Use Free Draw Surface Pick if the curve workflow needs a surface before drawing or editing.
  4. Use Move, Rotate, or Scale when available to adjust the supported marking selection.
  5. Navigate the viewport with RMB, MMB, and the mouse wheel so you can check the curve from multiple angles.
  6. Review the marking alignment along the road and make sure it follows the intended visual path.

Refresh Selected

Refresh Selected is the main update button for the current marking selection. Use it after selecting a road, marking, or supported object so the Markings tab can read the current state and display the correct controls. It is also useful after changing selection in the viewport.

  • Select the item first, then press Refresh Selected.
  • Use it when controls look unavailable or out of date.
  • Use it before recording a guide segment so the visible UI matches the selected item.
  • Use it after switching between Lane, Point, and Curve work if the selected item has changed.
