Opening the Modify tab
At the top of the Road Constructor panel, choose the Modify icon. When the Modify tab is active, the main panel shows Selected as the current target mode. This indicates that the Modify workflow is focused on selected road content rather than drawing a new road.
- Open Road Constructor in the editor.
- Select the Modify tab from the top icon row.
- Select one or more roads in the viewport or the outliner.
- Use the Modify settings to decide what should be changed.
- Use the Modify Actions section to apply the change. The Modify tab works best when you make a deliberate selection first. If nothing is selected, the action buttons may be unavailable or may not have a valid target.
Essential mouse and viewport controls
The Modify tab depends on selecting existing road content in the editor. The exact interaction can vary with your Unreal Engine editor settings, but the following controls are the practical starting point.

Use Create Tab Style
The Use Create Tab Style option lets the Modify tab use the style choice currently set in the Create tab. This is useful when you are building a consistent road network and want newly created roads and modified roads to use the same RoadStyle without reselecting it in multiple places.

A common beginner workflow is to leave Use Create Tab Style enabled while working in one consistent road style. Disable it when you need to deliberately change selected roads to a different RoadStyle.
Road Preset / Style
When Use Create Tab Style is disabled, the Road Preset / Style dropdown becomes the main style choice for the Modify action. This dropdown lets you choose the RoadStyle or road preset that should replace or update the selected road path.
- Select one or more existing roads.
- Open the Modify tab.
- Disable Use Create Tab Style if you want a local Modify tab style choice.
- Choose the desired Road Preset / Style from the dropdown.
- Review the selection and placement settings below.
- Press Apply Road Preset if you only want to apply the selected style or preset.
- Press Apply Road Preset + Placement Props if you also want to reapply the selected placement prop settings at the same time. Changing the RoadStyle can affect more than the road material. Depending on how the RoadStyle is configured, it can also affect road width, lane layout, markings, generated railings, curbs, shoulders, medians, drainage, road furniture, road wear, and other generated systems.
Modify Selection
The Modify Selection section explains which objects can be affected and how selected junction content is handled. The key option shown here is Include Selected Junction Internal Roads.
Enable Include Selected Junction Internal Roads when you want a selected junction to include its internally generated link roads during the modification. This is useful when a RoadStyle change or prop reapplication should affect the junction-owned internal pieces as well as the visible approach roads.

- Select the road or roads you want to modify.
- If junction internals should be included, also select the junction and enable Include Selected Junction Internal Roads.
- If you only want the visible approach roads, keep the junction internal option disabled or avoid selecting the junction itself.
- Review the action text before applying the change.
Placement Props
Placement Props controls which placed props and generated detail categories are allowed when reapplying placement content to selected roads. This section is important because it lets you update roads without always forcing every possible prop and generated detail back onto the scene.
The Current Filter readout lists the categories currently allowed by the Modify tab. This gives you a quick check before applying a prop or combined modification action.

The quick presets are the fastest way to change the Modify tab placement behaviour. Use Create Tab when you want consistency with your current creation settings. Use Safe while editing. Use All when you want a full visual pass. Use None when you only want to change road style or geometry without adding placement content.
Use Create Tab Placement Props
Use Create Tab Placement Props tells the Modify tab to mirror the placement prop choices from the Create tab. This is useful when you have already configured the Create tab exactly how you want and you want the Modify workflow to stay aligned with it.
Disable this option when the selected roads need a different prop filter than the one used for new road creation.
Use Full Road Style Props
Use Full Road Style Props allows the Modify tab to use the full prop behaviour defined by the RoadStyle. When enabled, Road Constructor can bring in the prop and generated detail settings that belong to the RoadStyle, subject to the category filters.
Use this when you want the selected roads to fully represent the chosen RoadStyle. Leave it off when you want a simpler or more controlled edit pass.
Category Filters
Category Filters let you decide exactly which prop and generated systems are included when placement props are reapplied. These filters are useful for controlling visual density, improving editing speed, and avoiding unwanted generated details during a targeted change.

You do not always need every category on. During layout and editing, a lighter filter can make the scene easier to read. During final visual review, enable the categories needed to judge the road as it will appear in the environment.
Modify Actions
The Modify Actions section is where changes are actually applied. The recommended order is to sync local settings from the Create tab if needed, review the target selection summary, then apply either the road preset, the placement props, or both.
