What the Shapes tab is for

The Shapes tab lets you create quick environment and road-support geometry without manually modelling every small surface. Use it when you need a clean flat or terrain-conforming shape, a raised profile edge, a pavement slab, a small island, a pad, a bordered area, or a decorative surface detail near a road.

  • Use preset shapes for fast, predictable geometry such as rectangles and rounded rectangles.
  • Use Conform To Terrain when the shape should follow the landscape instead of staying completely flat.
  • Use Shape Surface settings to choose the top material and adjust top UV scale.
  • Use Shape Edge settings when the shape needs a border, kerb, wall, lip, barrier, or raised profile around its perimeter.
  • Use Move, Rotate, and Scale to adjust a selected shape after placement.

Main workflow

  1. Open Road Constructor and select the Shapes tab.
  2. Choose the draw or placement mode you want to use. For a quick shape, choose Preset Shape.
  3. Choose a preset, such as Rounded Rectangle, from the Preset Shape section.
  4. Set Length and Width to control the size of the shape.
  5. Use Yaw to rotate the shape before or after placement when you need it aligned with a road, path, kerb, building edge, parking bay, island, or scenery feature.
  6. Enable or disable Conform To Terrain depending on whether the shape should follow the landscape.
  7. Choose a surface material in Shape Surface if you want the top of the shape to use a specific look.
  8. Enable Shape Profile if the shape needs an edge detail around it.
  9. Use LMB in the viewport to place or select the shape. After placement, use the gizmo controls to move, rotate, or scale the selected shape.
  10. Use Refresh or rebuild actions where available if the selected shape needs to update after changing related assets or settings.

Preset Shape section

The Preset Shape section controls the core shape before it is placed or refreshed. It is the fastest way to make repeatable shapes with consistent proportions.

Shape Surface section

Shape Surface controls the visible top of the shape. This is normally the area users will see most clearly from above or from the player camera.

Shape Edge section

Shape Edge controls an optional profile around the outside of the shape. This is useful when the shape should have a raised border, kerb, wall, barrier lip, pavement edge, or other perimeter detail.

Basic placement example

  1. Open the Shapes tab.
  2. Set Draw Mode to Preset Shape.
  3. Choose Rounded Rectangle as the preset.
  4. Set the Length and Width for the size of the island, pad, or surface you want.
  5. Set Yaw if the shape needs to line up with a road or scene feature.
  6. Enable Conform To Terrain if the shape should follow the ground height.
  7. Choose a Material in Shape Surface if you want a specific top surface appearance.
  8. Enable Shape Profile if you want an edge around the shape.
  9. Choose a Shape Profile and Profile Material if an edge is required.
  10. Use LMB in the viewport to place or select the shape, then use Move, Rotate, or Scale to refine it.
